Getting aid to Haiti right away to save lives is the first goal of the fund-raising initiative headed by George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, the two former U.S. presidents say.
In a pre-recorded interview broadcast Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," Bush and Clinton said the new fund created by President Barack Obama also seeks to ensure that money keeps coming in after the n…

A literature review is an explanation of what has been published on a subject by recognized researchers. Occasionally you will be asked to write one as a separate assignment (sometimes in the form of an annotated bibliography--, but more often it is part of the introduction to an essay, research report, thesis or dissertation.
Critical
literature reviews help to write your literature review more effectively:

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH I don't understand, what are the guidelines for getting a soldier, killed in combat, celebrated by getting a local highway or street named after them. Not that this Iraq soldier didn't do anything that warranted his getting a highway named after him but what about Pfc. Lavena Johnson. It's a shame, after the story of her rape/murder cover-up by the U.S. Army was aired here in St. Louis, her work and dedication to her country hasn't been more, or just as celebrated by her…

Just when you think you’ve heard it all,
Another name is slammed into a brick wall,
LaVena Johnson an Army Private First Class,
Is she the first? Certainly this PFC isn’t the last.
Is it any wonder Osama Bin Laden can’t be found?
With a criminal loose in our camp running around,
Destroying evidence, burning bodies, again & again,
Calling themselves soldiers, claiming they are men.
What a shame when the real enemy is on the same side,
Behind the color of camaraderie these cowards hide,
Punc…

Secretary Gates:
I have been contacted by my constituent, Mr. Scotty Reid, about the investigation into the death of PFC LaVena Johnson in Iraq. Mr. Reid put me in contact with Dr. John Johnson, PFC Johnson's father, who sent me the results of his continuing investigation into his daughter's death. I understand there have been some Congressional hearings on this case, but the family has a number of additional questions and concerns, as well as, evidence that this is not an "open…

Reporting from Florissant, Mo. -- Inside the tidy suburban St. Louis home of John and Linda Johnson, no photos of their eldest daughter grace the walls. Army Pfc. LaVena Johnson was just 19 when she died in Iraq in 2005; to this day her parents cannot bear to display reminders of her life. Johnson does not let his wife, Linda, and his four children see these images, but he studies the photos for hours at a time, trying to determine how his daughter died.
Army investigators ruled that LaVena com…

Considering how Ike Skelton is ignoring the call for a new investigation of PFC Lavena Johnson's case, instead of asking the President to make some symbolic declaration is just that symbolic. How can you ignore the pain of families who have lost a loved one under the circumstances like PFC Johnson's case. Call Ike Skeleton's Press Secretary and tell Loren Dealy or Lara Battles we demand a new investigation now! 202-225-2539

The Bullpen of New York University’s Department of Journalism provides
an illustrative tale for anyone wondering about the lack of coverage of the LaVena Johnson case in the mainstream media. Alexandra Zendrian recounts a sobering story told by Vanessa Bush, executive editor of Essence:
Sometimes conflicts of interest arise when editors plan to run a story that involves an adv…

Is there a growing trend of women in the military being raped and murdered? Are there cover-ups to keep the public out of touch with reality? I'm a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the N.C. American Civil Liberties Union. I'm very concerned as a U.S. citizen and disturbed of the possible findings involving the death of Army PFC Lavena Johnson. She died in Balad, Iraq on July 19, 2005 at the age of nineteen. There appears to be an issue of the findings in this case which includes but not li…

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know about the recent happenings in the fight for justice for our sister LaVena. After I talked to her father, Dr. John Johnson on Blogtalkradio last month, and he talked about everything that's been going on in the fight to have Congress investigate her case I haven't been myself. He divulged so much information, information I had no knowledge of. It affected me so much that I was rushed to the ER right after my talk with him and blogtalkradio. I was afraid I wa…

Many people across the world and the United States have been following the tragic case of Pfc. LaVena Johnson. Despite compelling evidence gathered from the U.S. Army’s own records including photographs of the body showing extensive damage to her genitalia, torso and face, Pfc. Lavena Johnson’s death was ruled a suicide by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Pfc. Johnson’s father, Dr. John Johnson himself a veteran and military civilian worker who was…

On July 27, 1985, a very special little girl was born. Her name was LaVena Lynn Johnson. She was the fourth child born into the closely knit Johnson family, but the first of two girls. She was a good, quiet baby, very friendly and seemed to enjoy her family time. She spent most of her playing time listening to and playing with her three older brothers and her father. Other than family time, her next favorite past tim…

Hey guys, this will be my first blog and I want my first blog here to be about my experience with blogtalkradio and Dr. John Johnson, the father of LaVena Johnson. I was so honored to be on blogtalkradio and even more so to be able to talk to Dr. Johnson to let him know just how much I'm here to support him and his family in the efforts to get justice for LaVena. I must say it was so disheartening hearing first hand what he and his wife has and still are going through dealing with what has happe…

Are we looking at considerable changes at the Pentagon and all branches of the military when it comes to sexual assualts under the Obama Administration? Perhaps if something like this database discussed in the below post had been in place, recent sexual assaults and the resulting deaths could have been prevented by identifying predators within the military ranks and prosecuting them. This is a good start for the Obama Administration on this issue.

A veterans outcry:
The protections of the Geneva Convention is suppose to shield our American Soldiers no matter what ground they may be called to duty upon or within. I was a sharp 11Charlie Infantryman meeting the challenges of a peace time soldiers story. Let me clarify my responses for those prior service and military oriented readers of this blog: I was a Sergeant E5 squad leader to at least 1 Specialist E4 and 1 Private E1,E2 or Private First Class E3.
To the parents of PFC Johnson, It is…
